Picture background remover for JPG, PNG and WebP, on your device

A general-purpose cutout tool for people, pets, products and handwriting.

This tool removes the background from a JPG, PNG or WebP and gives you a PNG with the subject cut out. It runs inside your browser tab, so the picture is processed on your device and never uploaded.

Drop a file on the page, pick one from your device or paste with Ctrl+V. Add several pictures at once and they run one after another. Download each as a full-size PNG, or all of them as one ZIP.

It is a general tool for still images. The pages linked under the tool cover narrower jobs such as a logo or a white backdrop; a GIF version is coming soon but is not available yet.

  • People and portraits

How to remove an image background in three steps

  1. 1

    Add your picture

Click Upload image, drop a file on the page or paste one with Ctrl+V. PNG, JPG and WebP files up to 25 MB work. Add more than one if you have a few.

  2. 2

    Let it remove the background

The model runs on your device. A recent laptop with WebGPU usually needs a fraction of a second per picture, and a second or two without it.

  3. 3

Check it, pick a backdrop, download

Flip between Original, Removed and Compare to check the edges. Keep it transparent, or choose white, black, a custom color or a blurred copy of the original. Then click Download PNG, or download all as a ZIP.

Why use this picture background remover

  • Your picture stays on your device

Your picture is processed in your browser and never uploaded to our servers. The model and engine files are downloaded to your browser, but no picture data goes anywhere, so there is no copy on a server to delete later.

  • Free, no account, no watermark

There is no sign-up, no credit counter and no watermark on the PNG. Nothing runs on our servers, so there is nothing to meter.

  • Full-size PNG out

The PNG keeps the pixel size of your original. The mask is predicted at a lower size and scaled up, so single hairs on a big photo can look softer; check them with Compare.

  • Hair, fur and thin lines held up in our tests

We ran eight pictures: two portraits, curly grey hair, a cat, a dog, sneakers, a paper cup and a signature. With WebGPU all eight came out clean, hair, fur and signature strokes included. On a busy background, check the result with Compare before you download.

  • Several pictures, one ZIP

Add a handful of files and they are processed in turn. Download them one by one or as a single ZIP of PNGs.
